Coronavirus (COVID-19) is affecting people's social connectedness, their trust in people and institutions, their jobs and incomes, as well as imposing a huge toll in terms of individuals’ level of anxiety and worry 2020. In line with the  increasing number  of  patients affected  by  the  virus,  we  must  be  aware  of  the  psychological  or  mental health impact from this pandemic, which is not only a state of medical crisis but also has a great impact on the nation’s economy and people’s holistic well-being.

Psychosocial Support System Post Movement Control Order (MCO) During  COVID-19 Pandemic in Malaysia

Many  nations have  taken  crucial  step to  enforce  the  Movement  Control  Order  (MCO) as a  strategy  to  flatten  the spreading  curve  of  active  Novel  Coronavirus  (COVID-19).  In  Malaysia,  the  MCO  enforcement  has  led  to  the temporary shutdown of major public sectors in order to restrain social activities and encourage the people to s tay at home. Unintentionally, the execution of MCO raised psychosocial concerns among community members due to the fact that daily routine activities had been restricted by the enforcement of strict standard operating procedures for uncertain  period  of  time. 

Adolescents’ Anxiety During COVID-19 Pandemic in Malaysia

Postoperative delirium is a well-documented occurrence in  geriatric patients particularly in the intensive care unit following high operative stress surgeries such as orthopedic surgeries or cardio-thoracic surgeries. Rarely if at all, is postoperative psychosis seen with short, elective, or low operative stress  surgeries. In this case, we present a case of postoperative psychosis secondary to propofol in a geriatric patient with psychiatric illnesses.

Malignant catatonia (MC)  -  a lethal catatonia, is extremely rare, most severe, and a life-threatening manifestation which  occurs  either  because  of  an  underlying  neuropsychiatric  or  general  medical  illness.  We  report  a  case  of excited catatonia with fever, autonomic instability, and delirium-a picture of MC.

Introduction
The prevalence of depression and anxiety among patients with cancer has been universally studied in numerous settings. However, there is insufficient attention given to the idea that the level of depression and anxiety may differ based on the stage of treatment the patient may be at. The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a significant difference in the severity of depression and anxiety amongst patients undergoing their first chemotherapy cycle vs. patients undergoing subsequent cycles of chemotherapy. The hypothesis was that patients receiving their first cycle of chemotherapy in the infusion unit would have a lower incidence of anxiety and depression and be more optimistic about being cured than patients with subsequent cycles of chemotherapy due to the occurrence of metastasis of the tumor.
Methods
The study was conducted in the ambulatory chemotherapy/infusion unit at Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC) in Staten Island, NY. Participants were enrolled through verbal consent from the patients who came to the Ambulatory Infusion Center for chemotherapy sessions from 2017-2019. The inclusion criteria were the following: (1) patients ≥ 18 years of age, (2) patients with a confirmed diagnosis of a solid tumor or hematologic cancer, (3) patients who can understand the study and read the self-administered metrics. As the consent was waived, patients were given a description of the study and asked if they were interested in participating in a study that focuses on the mental stresses experienced by patients diagnosed with cancer or hematological conditions. Participants were provided with a brief 20-minute self-administered questionnaire. Questions in this survey included: (1) A demographic survey consisting of questions regarding sociodemographic (age, ethnicity, gender, socioecnomics), highest level of education and medical comorbidities, (2) Receiving chemotherapy for the first time and site of tumor, (3) Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item Scale (GAD-7), (4) Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). The study was executed following the principles of confidentiality, anonymity, and informed consent.
The total scores from PHQ-9 and GAD-7 were interpreted to determine the severity of each condition. The depression severity cut-offs for the scores of PHQ-9 are as follows: 0 none, 1-4 minimal, 5-9 mild, 10-14 moderate, 15-19 moderately severe, and 20-27 severe. The anxiety severity cut-offs for the scores of GAD-7 are as follows: 0 none, 1-4 minimal, 5-9 mild, 10-14 moderate, and 15-21 severe. The collected data can show the importance of screening chemotherapy patients since identified patients may potentially benefit from recognition and intervention.
The research data was processed with Microsoft Excel and analyzed using a t-test. The reported p-values were two-tailed and considered statistically significant when under 0.05.
